Measure field acres on your iPhone
Short answer
Tractor GPS – Field Guidance measures field area two ways: place boundary points on the satellite map (you don't have to be in the field), or work the field once and turn the coverage into a saved boundary. Area shows in acres, hectares or other units, with the perimeter.

Method 1: draw the boundary on the map
- Open Fields and tap +. The map centres on you once, then you can pan anywhere.
- Line up the crosshair on a corner and tap + to place a point. Work your way round.
- Drag points to adjust, insert points on an edge, or undo. The area updates as you go.
- Finish, name the field and save.
This works from the farmhouse as well as the field. Accuracy depends on how well the satellite image lines up with the ground and how carefully you place the points. For a boundary you can trust, walk or drive to the corners and place points where you stand.
Method 2: work it once, save it as a field
Drive a job in the field as normal. Afterwards, open the job in the work log and tap Create Field: the outline of the ground you covered becomes the field boundary.
What you get
- Area in acres, hectares, square metres, square kilometres, square feet or square miles.
- Perimeter, useful for fencing.
- A saved field you can drive again, plan jobs for and lay out guidelines in.
- Offline images: download the satellite image of saved fields for places with no signal.
- Synced to your other devices through your own iCloud.
